The Mazda vehicle lineup is sparse enough for every test mule sighting to be considered big news, and this third-generation CX-5 is no exception. Let’s see what's new and exciting about it.
The car rocks what looks like its final production body concealed under a thin wrap. If true, that would mean Mazda is running ahead of schedule trying to deliver the next generation of its single best-selling car to the market as soon as possible.
Compared to the current iteration of the SUV, the new one boasts larger windows in C-pillars, wide fender flares, a new radiator grille, and redesigned headlights. The overall dimensions also appear a bit off, which is all but expected since the new CX-5 switches to a different RWD platform.
Powertrain-wise, we expect the SUV to ship with new 3.0- and 3.3-liter six-cylinder engines of the next-gen Mazda 6.
