Next-gen Exeed VX coming in spring

Chinese automaker Exeed has posted a bunch of official photos of what it calls the ‘second-generation VX’, even though the scope of modifications suggests a simple facelift. The premiere will take place in April this year.

The latest teaser pic shows three SUVs at once – the AtlantiX Concept-inspired Yaoguang and the modified LX, both of which have already been introduced, and the larger VX. The latter has a license plate that says ‘New Generation’ in Chinese.

Thanks to the earlier spy photos and leaks, we know that the new VX looks the same from the outside except for refreshed bumpers and a larger radiator grille sporting vertical bars. The interior is shaping up to be more up-to-date with a fresh infotainment system based on Lion OS and the Qualcomm 8155 chipset. The front panel will be designed to accommodate up to three displays, judging by the leaked photos. A premium trim version is also seems to be in the works with two captain’s seats in the second row instead of a bench.

There is little we know about the engines, though. Rumor has it that the currently available 2.0-liter turbo-four mill with 261 PS (257 hp / 192 kW) will remain as the entry-level choice, but will trade its seven-speed DCT for an eight-speed auto transmission designed in-house by Chery, the parent company of the Exeed brand.
