MINI unveils its first-ever electric SUV, the Aceman

The MINI Aceman is a four-meter (13.1-ft.) long, five-door crossover set to go on sale in China this year and other countries later on. Based on a concept revealed in the summer of 2022, it will slot in between the Cooper and the Countryman in the manufacturer’s lineup.

The production will take place in China, where the car will be offered exclusively as a single-motor/FWD EV. In its most basic form, the motor will churn out 184 PS (181 hp / 135 kW) and 290 Nm (214 lb-ft) of torque. A 40.7-kWh battery pack will give it up to 310 km (192 miles) of range according to the Chinese national standard.

Paying extra will get you an upgraded motor capable of 218 PS (215 hp / 160 kW) and 330 Nm (243 lb-ft) of torque. This version of the Aceman EV also takes advantage of a bigger 54.2-kWh battery, which extends the range to 406 km (252 miles).

If the specs sound familiar, that’s because the electric Mini Cooper SE ships with the same powertrain options. Among other things, it means that the Aceman may later get a JCW flagship version.
