Does this Fiero-based Ferrari F40 replica try hard enough for $25k?

The F40 (see video) could be the world’s most renowned Ferrari, but finding around €3 million to afford one may be a challenge. Let’s look at a tuned ride that honestly does its best to imitate the Italian classic at <1% of the price.

The donor car here is a Pontiac Fiero, which is a famous starting point for dozens upon dozens of such mods. However, this particular ride makes a strong statement with its lovingly proportioned and richly detailed body. The front fascia may look awkward from an angle due to wrong proportions, but the rear end redeems for that and many other sins. Note the telltale triple exhaust tips, the round taillights and the laconic lower bumper design – everything here has the potential of fooling a Ferrari aficionado for a moment, let alone a less caring enthusiast.

Unfortunately, the body is where the similarities end. The cabin is nothing like the original Ferrari, and even the Prancing Horse emblem on the aftermarket wheel is upside down for some reason. The same goes for the tech: a 6.3-liter V8 drives the rear wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox.

Worldwide Vintage Autos asks for $24,900 USD for the car, which has only covered 907 km (564 miles) since the tuning. The amount is a bit much for a Fiero, but we can imagine all that detailing costing the former owner even more.
