A Porsche 918 out of White Collection nearly hits $4M at auction

A whole selection of exotic Porsches went under the hammer this week. Since most of them were white, it was dubbed the White Collection. The main highlight of the assembly was a Porsche 918 Spyder, which alone fetched U.S. $3,937,500 setting a new record, The Drive reports.

The Spyder in question rolled off the assembly line in 2015 and was number 656 made. The seller claimed that it was ordered with a unique combination of finish and trim options. The original owner paid $1,028,200 for the car back at the time, roughly 25% above the official base price. The opulent yacht-inspired blue leather cabin trim was a $96,000 option, for example.

Aside from that, the Spyder landed with a complete Weissach package including body-matching magnesium wheels and a revised aerodynamic kit. A full set of OEM accessories was also included with the auction lot – a racing overalls, a helmet, sneakers and a wristwatch. None of the items have ever seen any use, and the same applies to the car – it was brand new with fewer than 20 km (12 miles) on the counter.
