Freddie Mercury’s Rolls-Royce heading to auction in November

A 48-year-old Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow once used by Queen singer Freddie Mercury will be auctioned off in London on November 5, 2022. The seller claims the engine is stock and the exterior and cabin fully correspond to the original specifications. No price has been announced.

Mercury’s company purchased the 1974MY luxury saloon five years after its production. The car belonged to him until his passing away in 1991, when it passed on to his sister. The family eventually sold the Rolls in 2013.

The seller points out that Freddie driving his own car was unlikely: it is widely believed he never had a driver’s license. He must have employed a chauffeur, and reports claim the Silver Shadow was used the most during the period when the band recorded its hit songs.

A 6.75-liter V8 under the hood still drives the wheels, but its output and mileage are not available.
