Jeep confirms that the next Cherokee is a hybrid, reveals other specs

The latest Jeep Cherokee generation bowed out in February 2023, but a new one is coming soon – here are the first details.

According to Jeep, the new Cherokee will be a hybrid with excellent fuel economy. It will be available with the Trailhawk package for off-road enthusiasts and will rely on a 1.6-liter turbo engine.

The combined-cycle fuel economy amounts to a manufacturer-estimated 38 MPG, which means 6.2 liters of gas per 100 kilometers. It’s still unknown how powerful the electric motor(s) will be and whether the SUV will have any electric range. What we do know is that the vehicle will ship with an Active Drive I 4x4 system with a coupling at the rear axle. It will also be able to tow trailers weighing up to 1,588 kilograms (3,500 pounds).

Aside from the base spec, customers will be choosing from four trim variants called Laredo, Limited, Overland, and Trailhawk. The latter will be available with a particularly large list of equipment for overlanding and travel.

Prices are expected to start from $31,000 and max out around $42,000, although neither figure is official.
