Ares Design to turn the Tesla Model S into a roadster

In case you’ve always wanted a Tesla convertible, your options had been pretty limited until recently. The only car fitting that description would be the second-generation Tesla Roadster. However, that one has two fatal flaws: namely, it costs north of U.S. $200,000 and it doesn’t become available until at least 2020.

Another alternative would be to buy a first-gen Roadster, but Elon Musk himself admitted that the car had build quality issues. So is there anything else?

Of course, there is! You can always turn to a coachbuilder for a conversion of an existing car. Actually, Ares Design has recently announced its plans to make a Tesla Roadster out of the Model S. As you can see on the sketch provided, the four-door car is going to turn into a two-door convertible, something that hasn’t been done with the Model S before.

The tuner provides no further information so far, but promises that the conversion will incorporate the best practices in the industry.
