Car Tuning

EMC brings back the G-Wagon of a bygone era

Expedition Motor Company (EMC) is a car restoration shop based in New Jersey, USA. Their releases may not occur often, but when they do, they often make the headlines – and this newest Mercedes-Benz 250GD ‘Wolf’ is no exception.

Germany used to produce the G-Class Wolf series for military use starting from early 1970s and into the early 1990s. Their build quality and technical specs were impeccable, but driving one off-road was not exactly comfortable. That is what EMC fixes in its ‘civilian’ version of the retro SUV.

The main improvements include Eibach springs, Bilstein shock absorbers, power-boosted standard 2.5-liter diesel engine, and modernized five-speed manual transmission.

The body of the car received a creamy-white paintjob with sharp black accents. Rather than going for a full aero kit, the tuner opted for simple, yet elegant wide fenders and a roll cage. Before any of that happened, though, the car was disassembled down to the last screw and pieced together again in top-notch technical condition. Allegedly, the works took 1,000 hours.

Rounding off the project is the interior makeover, with the splendid brown leather-wrapped seats being the main highlight.
