Cadillac promises to make Lyriq quite affordable

Steve Carlyle, CEO of General Motors North America, revealed in a recent interview that the upcoming all-electric Cadillac Lyriq will cost barely more than a typical gas-powered mid-size premium SUV.

He hinted at the fact that the Lyriq commands a five-digit price tag in U.S. dollars and that the base spec would be available under $60,000. To put things into perspective, the Jaguar I-Pace starts from $69,850, the Audi e-tron nearly $5,000 above that, and the Tesla Model X around $5,000 on top of the Audi.

The first Lyriq should leave the factory in 2022 packing a 100-kWh traction battery and commanding 500 km (310 miles) of range.
