Mercedes-Benz brings 1932 SSKL ‘The Cucumber’ to Pebble Beach

Mercedes-Benz Classic, vintage car restoration department of the German automotive giant, has come to the recently concluded Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance with a 1932 SSKL sports car dubbed ‘The Cucumber’ by racing driver Manfred von Brauchitsch.

The Mercedes-Benz SSKL is a racing-spec rebuild of the production model called SSK, which used to be produced between 1928 and 1932 and is featured in the video here. The sporty vehicle comes powered by a 7.1-liter supercharged engine churning out around 300 horsepower (224 kilowatts). With a maximum speed of 230 km/h (143 mph), the racecar claimed multiple victories in prestigious racing events.

This is not the first time Mercedes-Benz Classic takes part in the Concours d’Elegance. Seven years ago, the department had a restored S 680 convertible on display there.
