Meet JP ZERO, a dream racecar with Lotus Exige chassis

Martin Jung, founder and owner of JUBU Performance, Austria – has always dreamt of driving a racecar with rapid dynamics, intuitive steering, and simple maintenance. This is how JP ZERO was born, a GT2 series racer with 960 kg of weight and 610 hp hitting the wheels.

The JUBU team took the original Lotus Exige chassis and engine, and designed everything else from scratch, including the frame, the suspension, the bodywork, the cabin and the steering wheel. They also retrofitted the engine with a purpose-built dual-clutch transmission. Martin explains that the new design is just as fast when it comes to switching gears as the racing-grade sequential designs while benefitting from a much longer service life. It can also go full automatic at a single button press.

The track projectile has 610 horsepower (455 kilowatts) at its disposal, which is quite formidable given its curb weight of 960 kg (2,115 lbs). Reliability is another strong point: the ZERO series is being designed specifically to be able to keep running on the racetrack for 100 consecutive hours without requiring any major maintenance.

JP plans to build 60 such vehicles – 20 units each in ZEROtrack (semi-pro), ZEROrace (professional) and ZEROstreet (road-legal) guises. The Track version will open the lineup from below priced at €249,000 and above, while the luxury-laden Street will set you back €650,000 before options.
