Tesla Model S Plaid to get a $20k carbon-ceramic brake option

Tesla has previewed a new option for its fastest electric car, the Model S Plaid. Buyers of the sedan can now specify carbon-ceramic brakes for a hefty premium of $20,000 USD.

This includes four 410mm (16-inch) brake rotors, six-piston calipers at the front, four-piston calipers in the back, heavy-duty brake pads, and an optimized brake liquid solution.

The option will be available in mid-2022 and will require 21-inch Arachnid wheels to be ticked in the configurator as well. Later on, the Plaid might get other track-friendly extras.

The Model S Plaid featured in our gallery and the video here comes powered by triple electric motors rated at 1,020 PS (1,006 hp / 750 kW) and needs less than two seconds for a standing sprint to 100 km/h (62 mph). It has enough juice for 627 km (390 miles) of range.
