Mercedes-AMG EV allows a sneak peek inside

It’s been a while since Mercedes-AMG started testing its electric flagship on public roads, but this is the first time we managed to obtain interior shots.

According to Carscoops posting these images, the interior looks partly inspired by the recent Mercedes-AMG GT XX Concept (see video). That show car packed 1,360 PS (1,344 hp / 1,000 kW) of raw performance, and we are looking forward to something similar in the production version.

The test vehicle resembles the concept in many ways, but isn’t identical to it. For example, while it has a very similar-looking dash display cluster, its corners are visibly rounded. It also sports a traditional AMG steering wheel instead of the concept’s yoke, as well as a rather normal-looking transmission tunnel with what appears to be physical controls on it.

While the exterior is still disguised, there is no mistaking the outlines of the AMG GT XX. Having said that, the test vehicle’s roofline is taller and the rear overhang is shorter than the concept’s. The headlights boast tri-point stars for DRLs. Last but not least, Mercedes seems to have gotten some last-minute regrets about replacing the rear window on the concept with a solid panel, because this is no longer the case here.

It is speculated that the company’s latest-and-greatest supercar is being developed on a platform known as the AMG.EA, which was originally designed for high-end EVs. We suppose it could ship with three motors driving the wheels with a combined 1,000 PS (986 hp / 735 kW), if not more.
