2020 Jaguar XF spotted out in the open

The second generation of the Jaguar XF sedan/saloon came out five years ago and was long due a facelift – and it looks like it will be getting one later this year.

Based on the spy photos, the car gets new headlights and front bumper, as well as redesigned brake lights. The updated XF Sportbrake estate/wagon was sighted last fall with the same design changes, so there is little surprise. The cabin isn’t shown, but we expect it to get the same digital dashboard as the new F-Type and a separate touch panel for the climate control unit, like the I-Pace and the new XE.

Jaguar Land Rover has stated more than once that every model it would produce starting in 2020 would get at least one electrified version. As such, we expect the XF to ship with an optional mild-hybrid powertrain, based on the standard straight-six gasoline engine assisted by a supercharger, a turbocharger and a small electric motor. The new Range Rover Sport debuted a year ago with the same configuration.

The premiere date hasn’t been set yet, but everything indicates that it should follow later this year. The new Jaguar XJ should also reveal itself later in 2020 and initially hit the market as a purely electric flagship sedan.
