400+ cars disappear from Tesla parking lot after spending a whole year there

There were over 400 Model S EVs parked on a designated lot near the Tesla factory in Fremont, California, but most are gone now. Why and where to?

The parking lot in that area is routinely used by Tesla to store finished cars before they are shipped to their buyers, but now only a few dozen remain standing out of several hundred sitting there over the past year.

Of course, another valid question is why there were so many cars in the first place: with the demand as high as ever and production volumes lower than usual, most automakers have no trouble at all moving stock. Furthermore, Tesla seems to be much less affected by the ongoing semiconductor shortage than most its rivals. If it did run out of the required components, though, that could explain the waiting.

Another possible explanation is that the company stumbled onto logistic issues and had to wait for Model S part suppliers to deliver on their obligations first. Finally, there could be an issue with a large number of Model S cars that had to be addressed first. There has been no official comment so far.
