The next-gen Volkswagen Transporter/Caravelle/Multivan has already been spotted testing on public roads multiple times, but this is the first time we can peek inside its Golf 8-style interior.
The front fascia of the van reminds than of the latest Golf, complete with the digital dashboard and the large touch-enabled central display. A number of sensor controls sit underneath the screen, and a compact-sized DSG gear selector can be seen to the left.
Simultaneously with the shots, a rumor emerged that the VW T7 would be getting a plug-in hybrid version based on the golf GTE powertrain. This means a 1.4-liter gasoline turbo engine rated at 150 hp (112 kW) working in conjunction with a 116-hp (87-kW) electric motor for up to 245 hp (183 kW) at the wheels. Then again, since the Transporter is much heavier than the GTE, it might as well need a much stronger powertrain than that.
The VW T7 should premiere before the end of the current year.
