Car Tuning

Tuner finally enables the Tesla Model S Plaid to break through 200 MPH

There are few production cars in the world faster than the Tesla Model S Plaid, but it still falls short of the 200 mph (322 km/h) top speed Elon Musk promised for it. Fortunately for us, a workaround has been created that lets it cross that line and go far beyond.

Ingenext, a Canada-based aftermarket shop focused on Tesla EVs, replaced the stock tires with high-end Michelin Super Sport ones and installed massive Mountainpass Performance brakes to keep the heavy sedan in check. Most importantly, the stock ECU software was hacked into and edited to have the speed limiter removed, among other things.

While tested on an airport runway, the car snapped off the start line and proceeded to reach 347.6 kilometers per hour, or 216 mph. The tuner did not clarify whether the mod will go on sale and for how much.
