Kia unveils the HabaNiro Concept EV with 500 km/ 310 mi of range

At the continuing 2019 New York Auto Show, Kia has taken the wraps off its HabaNiro Concept, an all-electric design study equipped with an SAE Level 5 self-drive system and a battery rated for 500 km / 310 miles of range.

The South Korean company proudly describes its latest creation as a ‘car fit for everything’. A compact SUV at heart, it lends itself to a remarkable variety of use cases, including daily urban use, off-road trips, and grand tours. You can even turn it into a high-tech workspace should the need arise, relegating the steering to the AI.

The vehicle sports butterfly-wing doors, short overhangs, and bold fender flares concealing 20-inch wheels. It is 4,430 mm (14.5 ft.) long with 2,830 mm (9.3 ft.) separating the wheel axles.

The interior of the Kia HabaNiro lacks any kind of conventional controls, but you can use the acrylic touch panel to access most functions. One of the main features here is what the company calls the ‘AI-powered R.E.A.D. system,’ an electronic driver aid that monitors the mood of the people inside and tries to react accordingly. There are also neat ambient lighting and an advanced ventilation system inside.
