1,900HP Pininfarina Battista is test track-ready, company claims

The Italian coachbuilder surprised the audience of the last year’s Geneva show with the Battista, its first complete vehicle project – and a wild hypercar, at that. Now, the car is finally ready to commence road tests.

Ex-Formula driver Nick Heidfeld will be piloting the first test sample in Cambiano, Italy, late this year to find potential shortcomings with the drivetrain and steering. According to Rene Wollmann, who used to be the project supervisor for the Mercedes-AMG Project One, the tests will continue for approximately six months.

The Battista comes powered by four electric motors installed on a per-wheel basis, giving it 1,900 hp (1,417 kW) and 2,300 Nm (1,700 lb-ft) of torque. Rimac C Two provides it with a 120-kWh battery. The hypercar zaps from standstill to 100 km/h and beyond in less than two seconds.
